Job Description for Sunday Morning Worship Set Up
(Updated 1/24/06)

Please note: We are no longer recording services.

1. Arrive at the church about one hour before the first service starts.

2. Turn on the lights. Switches on the two panels behind the bookcase turn on the overhead lights. Switches next to the large wooden cabinet by the window wall turn on the pulpit lights.

3. Unlock the worship closet near the church office and the storage cabinet in the sanctuary. Talk to any staff member about obtaining keys for these.

4. Choose an altar table cloth and place it on the altar table. The purple one is preferable.

5. Take the chalice from on top of the storage cabinet and place it on the altar table. Fill the chalice flame bottle with 99 percent alcohol, which is also kept in the storage cabinet. Make sure to re-bury the bottle in the sand for safety.

6. Take the container for "Candles of Joy and Sorrow" from the storage cabinet and place it on the altar table. Set out several candles from the storage cabinet on the altar table. Light one candle using matches in the pulpit. Extra candles are in the worship arts closet.

7. Place hymnals from the bookcase on about every other chair.

8. Get the orders of service from the desk in the church office and place them in the rack on the bookcase.

9. Turn on the sound system inside the storage cabinet by turning on the red switch on the power strip on the third shelf from the top. Take the hand-held "ice-cream cone" microphone from the storage cabinet and set it up.

10. Take the assisted listening devices case from the worship closet, set it out near the bookcase, and open it.

11. Chairs should already be set up. However, it may be necessary to straighten a few.

12. Put a glass of water in the pulpit.

13. Open outside doors and set up a fan if necessary.

14. Open the doors to the sanctuary by 9:30.
