Groups and Activities
Newcomers are always welcome at any group or
activity!
For Newcomers
Newcomer Orientations are held monthly at the church. These are an
opportunity to learn more about Saltwater Church and Unitarian Universalism.
Check the newsletter or website for the date and time of the next Newcomer
Orientation.
For Children and Youth
Religious Education Classes for Children and Youth are held during
the 9:30 a.m. service on Sundays. Childcare for crawlers and toddlers is
available at both services. For more information about programming for children

Class for Adults
Classes for adults are offered regularly. Reverend James teaches a
six-session "Introduction to Unitarian Universalism" class especially for
newcomers several times a year. Check the newsletter or website to find out when
the next class will start and for information about other classes for adults.
Spiritual Growth
Chalice Circles, our most popular groups for
adults, are groups of six to 12 people who meet for two hours twice a month to
share their lives and discuss the big questions of life. Contact Reverend James

Our Choir sings at services twice a month and rehearses weekly on

The Earth-Based Spirituality Group meets monthly to celebrate
rituals making the turning of the year. For more information, contact Mary

The Meditation Group meets weekly in the Sanctuary on Tuesdays, 7:30

The Women's Spirituality Group meets the second Saturday
of every month at 9 a.m. - Noon. Check the newsletter or website for this
month's topic.
The Writer's Group meets every Wednesday at 10 a.m. -
Noon to share original pieces of writing with each and to offer encouragement
and constructive criticism to each other.
The Yoga Group meets on Wednesdays at 8:45 a.m. For more

Fun and Fellowship
The All-Church Retreat happens annually on a spring weekend in Seabeck,

Bring a brown bag lunch and a drink and join the Wednesday Lunch
Bunch every week at noon at the church.
Neighborhood Dinners happen four times a year and are an
opportunity to share a meal with people who live close to you. For more

Open Mic Nights happen regularly and are an opportunity for people to
share music, poetry, drama, and even stand up routines. Check the newsletter or
website for the date and time of the next Open Mic Night.
The Young Adult Group for those 18-35 (or even 35 and holding)
meets at least monthly for a social activity. For more information, contact

Support
The Addiction Ministry Team provides a non-judgmental,
confidential ministry of presence to individuals and the family members and
friends of individuals whose lives have been affected by addiction. For more

An Alcoholics Anonymous Group "for agnostics and others" meets on
Mondays at 6:30 p.m. An Al-Anon Group for family members and friends of
people whose lives have been affected by addiction also meets separately on
Mondays at 6:30 p.m.
An Appetite Awareness Group, which focuses on developing a positive
relationship with your body and food, meets regularly. For more information,

Lay Ministers are church members with special training who offer
an ear to listen, a hand to hold, and a heart to care to those experiencing
transition or other difficulties in life. Check the church newsletter to find
out how to contact a lay minister.
Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG)
PFLAG meets at the church the fourth Monday of every month at the church at 7
p.m.
Social Justice
English as a Second Language classes are held on Tuesday
and Thursdays, 7-8:30 p.m. For more information about volunteering, contact

Hospitality House is the only shelter for single homeless
women in South King County. Saltwater Church volunteers bring dinners to the
women staying there several times every year. For more information about

Through the sale of fair-trade craft sales during the holidays,
the Microbank Committee has raised enough funds to start seven microbanks
in the developing world during the past several years.
