Green Sanctuary

Saltwater Church has received Green Sanctuary Certification, a program that inspires UU congregations to act for greater environmental stewardship and sustainability. Our congregation is among the first 20% of churches actively engaged in this program sponsored by the UU Ministry for the Earth. Momentum is growing across our denomination as witnessed by the distribution last year of over 700 Green Sanctuary Manuals. See the national website for more information. http://uuministryforearth.org/grs_overview.htm

Action Plan: In order to become a candidate, the Saltwater Green Sanctuary Task Force conducted an Environmental Audit to provide a snapshot of where our congregation stood with respect to its environmental behaviors and developed an action plan of projects/events that contained at least 12 projects in four focus areas: 1) Worship and Celebration, 2) Religious Education, 3) Environmental Justice, and 4) Sustainable Living. See our Action Plan to learn more about our projects at Saltwater (click here).

Tips for green living. You are encouraged to join our efforts to improve the efficiency and environmentally friendliness of our church property. We also provide Tips for you to use in your personal life. (Click here for our Green Tips PowerPoint)
