Chalice Circles

"The only way to have a friend is to be one."  - - Ralph Waldo Emerson

What do people say about Chalice Circles?

“I have truly enjoyed Chalice Circles. It’s unlike anything else at church I’ve experienced.”

“Chalice Circles have made it possible for me to get to know people I otherwise would not have known.”

“I used to know only people’s names and faces. Now I feel like I know them and they know me.”

"Chalice Circles have given me an opportunity to reflect on how I live my life. I’m a better person as a result!”

“I have gotten more out of Chalice Circles than I ever dreamed possible.”

"I look forward to every meeting.”

“I highly recommend Chalice Circles to anyone.”

What are Chalice Circles?

Chalice Circles are small groups of six to 12 people who meet regularly.

What happens at a Chalice Circle?

Chalice Circles provide both the opportunity for participants to share what's happening in their lives and the opportunity to reflect with others on some of "life's big questions." There is a topic for discussion for each meeting.

How often, when, and where do Chalice Circles meet?

Chalice Circles meet every other week for about two hours, usually during the first and third weeks of a month. Participants choose what day and what time they want to meet when they sign up. Some Chalice Circles will meet at the church. Others will meet in people’s homes.

Can I sign up for a Chalice Circle if I’m not a member of the church yet?

Yes! All are welcome to sign up. Participating in a Chalice Circle is a good way to get to know people and learn more about a liberal religious approach to life. Newcomers are also welcome to drop in on a Chalice Circle to see if they like it.

Can I join a Chalice Circle after it has already started?

Absolutely. Newcomers to the church are always welcome to join a Chalice Circle even after it has started if there is space available.

Please contact Reverend James Kubal-Komoto at minister@saltwaterchurch.org or at 253-839-5200 if you have any additional questions about Chalice Circles.
